Insulting term to denote member of the lower classes.
"Out of my way, plebs!"
Pleb is a contraction of 'plebeian'. The plebeians were a lower class in Roman times, although they could in fact rise socially. The term pleb came to be used by upper classes in Britain, including in public schools, as an insult against anybody of an 'inferior' class.
